I am a qualified painter and decorator, including guilding and paint fix, and have also passed a certificate in dry stone walling. I have always enjoyed restoring old buildings and furnishing and have worked on a few projects, which included Winiston Churchill’s house and the old Express Offices. Unfortunetly I find myself unemployed at the moment and would like to further my career and knowledge in the restoration area.
I am very interested in joining one of your courses or maybe if there is a trainee vacancy that maybe available.
Hello
I wonder if you could please tell me if you are aware of any training courses in the near future for earth walling/ cobbing/ rammed earth/ adobe?
Kind regards
Jess
Traditional Timber frame building courses Run in a Woodland Workshop in south Wales
5 day courses in April, June and September, Also tailor made courses for groups can be arranged.
The NHTA SW does not actually run training courses. Take a look at the Woodchester Mansion website http://www.woodchestermansion.org they run courses or call and ask to put your name down with them so they can call you and let you know about courses running. Also look at the Building Conservation website http://www.buildingconservation.com – there are many courses on this site, both short and more long term.
I am wondering if any body could help us?
We are looking for a placement for some French stonemasons. They will be based in Hampshire.
The work placements would be from 5th – 16th March (2 weeks) and are unpaid. The apprentices’ average age is 18, they are in the second year of a 3 year apprenticeship with “Les Compagnons du Devoir” and are very competent and proud of their chosen trade.
All our young people will be accommodated full-board with Host Families in nearby locations, they will have full insurance cover from their association and are all certificated in ‘Health & Safety’ in the workplace. The group monitoring will be carried out by ourselves together with two tutors who will be here with the group throughout their three week stay. The first week will be dedicated to English lessons, preparation of placement, cultural & educational outings.
Thank you so much for your time and attention
Celine
